MISSION Statement

 Universal Community Homes (Universal) is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit "Community Development Corporation" centrally located in South Philadelphia. Universal's mission is to improve the overall conditions facing the residents living in South Philadelphia. Universal is a Real Estate and Economic Developer that provides affordable and quality housing and creates economic opportunities that can be owned and operated by neighborhood residents, while increasing the employment opportunities for the residents of South Philadelphia.

The primary purpose of the UBSC is to increase neighborhood wealth by empowering individuals, businesses, and organizations with the necessary tools needed to:
  • Identify and recruit existing leaders from within the community to own and operate enterprises;
  • Stabilize and/or expand existing small business;
  • Promote new business/industry development & job creation;
  • Revitalize commercial corridors within the community; and
  • Organize business associations to help identify the needs of commercial districts.
UBSC shall provide direct assistance to individuals, for-profit businesses, and non-profit organizations that act as key service providers and employers in the area. The UBSC is a comprehensive approach to business development. The UBSC will offer a continuum of business assistance and services (one-stop-shop) that will help support and stabilize businesses.
